Acura GTP Driver Renger van der Zande to Compete in 2026 Nürburgring 24 Hours
Renger van der Zande, renowned Acura GTP driver, will join HWA to compete in the 2026 ADAC 24H Nürburgring, driving one of the new EVO.R models. The EVO.R, a limited-edition super saloon derived from the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo II DTM, is set to race in the SP-X class.
The car has undergone extensive testing, including a five-day session at Portimão, where it completed over 2000 kilometers of both wet and night driving conditions. Van der Zande recently took the wheel for its first laps on the challenging Nürburgring Nordschleife, marking his return to the iconic circuit after his last appearance in 2023 with Audi’s Scherer Sport PHX.
In his Nürburgring history, van der Zande notably secured a runner-up finish in 2016 while driving for HTP-Motorsport in a Mercedes-AMG GT3. He will join a strong roster of confirmed drivers, which includes three-time 24H Nürburgring winner Markus Winkelhock, Sebastian Asch, and Luca Ludwig. HWA plans to field three EVO.Rs during the race.
The event is scheduled for May 14-17, 2026, promising a competitive field and intriguing technical developments as teams prepare to tackle one of endurance racing’s most prestigious challenges.
