Bathurst 12 Hour Preview: Art Cars and Livery Launches Kick Off Race Week
Bathurst, Australia – As race week for the iconic Bathurst 12 Hour intensifies, teams unveil new liveries and strategies ahead of the event. A highlight of Thursday’s activities came from Team WRT, which will campaign a notable BMW M4 GT3 Evo, featuring a replica of the BMW Art Car #8, originally designed by Australian artist Ken Done. The car is driven by a formidable lineup including Kelvin van der Linde, Jordan Pepper, and Charles Weerts.
Ken Done expressed his excitement: “I’m really looking forward to the weekend race to see the artwork for the BMW Art Car I painted brought to the racetrack… It is wonderful to see colour, energy and performance coming together again through BMW M Motorsport.”
The public got its first look at this art car during the ‘Track to Town’ event, where drivers paraded a 35-car field through Bathurst town center, despite challenging weather conditions.
In additional livery updates, Earl Bamber Motorsport honored its 2019 victory with a retro paint scheme for the #61 Porsche 911 GT3 R, driven by Klaus Bachler, Laurin Heinrich, and Ricardo Feller. Mercedes-AMG Team GMR introduced a striking new red design for its #888 AMG GT3 EVO, featuring factory drivers Maxime Martin, Mikaël Grenier, and Maro Engel. Volante Rosso Motorsport unveiled its McLaren GT3 Evo, prominently showcasing its partnership with The Kids’ Cancer Project.
Track action commences tomorrow, featuring four 40-minute Free Practice sessions for competitors as they prepare to tackle Mount Panorama.
