Dale Coyne Racing Eyes Contract Extension with Rinus VeeKay
MILWAUKEE, WI – Dale Coyne Racing is pursuing a contract extension with driver Rinus VeeKay as the team looks to retain momentum heading into the final races of the IndyCar Series. Currently positioned 12th in the championship standings, VeeKay is only 15 points shy of breaking into the top 10, a feat last achieved by the team in 2018.
As the series approaches its final two events in Milwaukee and Nashville, both Coyne and VeeKay have expressed a mutual interest in continuing their partnership. “I think it will,” Coyne stated regarding the potential for a contract extension. He emphasized stability, noting that few changes are anticipated for the upcoming season.
VeeKay’s manager, Adrian Sussman, echoed Coyne’s optimism, expressing hope for a finalized agreement in the near future. This collaboration has already yielded significant results, including a season-best second-place finish at Toronto, following recent improvements since engineer Michael Cannon joined the team.
“From a competitive standpoint, everybody’s fighting for their place,” Coyne explained. “When we’re high up the sheets, it’s where we should be. The potential to be higher is much stronger.” The duo has notably secured top-10 finishes in half of their races together, showcasing their growing synergy.
As both parties strive to finalize their agreement, VeeKay’s performance and the team’s competitive edge remain under close observation as they aim for a strong finish in the remaining races of the season.
