Alex Lynn Wraps Up Tenure with Cadillac Ahead of WEC Final at Monza
Monza, Italy – This weekend marks the concluding chapter of Alex Lynn’s tenure with the Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) before he transitions to McLaren’s Hypercar lineup for its highly anticipated 2027 debut.
Lynn, 33, has been closely associated with Cadillac since 2017, achieving his first major victory at the Sebring 12 Hours with Wayne Taylor Racing. His evolution from a promising single-seater driver to a respected sportscar competitor has been marked by impressive performances amid the challenges faced by his teams. Notable highlights include a podium finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans Centenary and Cadillac’s first WEC victory at Interlagos in 2025.
Reflecting on his time with Cadillac, Lynn said, “I’m forever grateful… they gave me a platform to become the driver I am.” He recognizes the emotional gravity of his final race with the brand, commenting, “It just feels nice to be racing again with a team at the highest level.”
Lynn returned to racing after a challenging season marred by a neck injury. His comeback at the recent Barcelona round did not yield the desired results, with the #12 crew finishing sixth. However, he emphasized the importance of personal recovery, stating, “It feels like putting on an old glove… it’s just been great to feel at home again.”
Looking ahead to Monza, Lynn expressed optimism about his competitive prospects, citing the track’s recent resurfacing as favorable for the Cadillac chassis. “I’m hopeful we can be more competitive,” he added.
Lynn’s partnership with McLaren comes at a pivotal time, with strong alignments already formed, including teammates Mikkel Jensen and Laurens Vanthoor. Describing McLaren’s commitment to excellence, he said, “They’re not messing about. They’ve gone for some of the quickest out there in sports car racing.”
As he prepares to conclude his chapter with Cadillac, Lynn’s focus remains clear: to leave a lasting impact while embracing the promising challenge that awaits him at McLaren. “It’s a big project, and one I can’t wait to join,” Lynn concluded, fully aware of what lies ahead in his evolving motorsports career.
