JR Motorsports to Field Justin Allgaier in 2026 Daytona 500
JR Motorsports confirmed Friday that it will field a car in the 2026 Daytona 500, with Justin Allgaier returning as the driver. The announcement was made via a promotional video on the team’s social media platforms, featuring the message, “How about another round in Daytona?” and highlighting Allgaier’s participation in the No. 40 Chevrolet, sponsored by Traveller Whiskey—a collaboration between Chris Stapleton and Buffalo Trace Distillery.
In a notable quote from the video, Allgaier stated, “You didn’t think this was a one-and-done, did you?” emphasizing the team’s commitment to a sustained presence at the iconic race.
This announcement follows fan speculation as JR Motorsports had been seen advertising merchandise for the upcoming event. Allgaier will maintain the same car number and sponsorship as in 2025, when he made his Cup Series debut for JR Motorsports, qualifying 19th and finishing 9th in the Daytona 500—the only race the team participated in that season.
