Max Anstie Prepares for 2027 AMA Supercross Championship with New YZ250F
October 10, 2026 – As the 2027 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship approaches, Max Anstie is ramping up his preparation with a focused training regimen and extensive testing on the new 2027 Yamaha YZ250F.
Anstie, reflecting on his off-season strategy, emphasized the importance of competitive racing for preparation. “I’ve got Justin Brayton, who has been a bit of a mentor to me,” he stated. “He was literally making himself as ready as possible for coming into the start of the new season… utilizing those races to test and develop allows you to show up for round one already firing.”
Despite the benefits of off-season racing, Anstie noted that larger teams often discourage participation, creating a disconnect between preparation and actual race conditions. He remarked, “You think you’re good, but when you show up… there is a whole different element to it.”
Anstie’s focus on the new 2027 YZ250F is evident. “The new chassis is working well,” he stated after competing in recent events. “Our base platform is better than where we were on the 2026 bike.” The 2027 model features significant upgrades including a new chassis, frame, engine, and a hydraulic clutch. While he acknowledges the challenge of transitioning to a new bike, Anstie expressed optimism about his performance potential.
“The aim is to fine-tune the clutch and engine mapping, with a strong starting point for the off-season,” he added, indicating a positive trajectory heading into next year. Anstie’s collaboration with ClubMX further bolsters his preparation for the World Supercross Championship, which promises to align seamlessly with his Australian racing schedule.
As the countdown to the new season begins, Anstie remains committed to maximizing his off-season opportunities while adapting to the challenges of the new machinery, underscoring his determination to excel when the championship kicks off in January 2027.
