Peugeot’s Alex Quinn Set for WEC Debut at Barcelona
Barcelona, Spain — Alex Quinn, the recently appointed Peugeot factory driver, is poised to make his FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) debut this weekend in Barcelona. The 25-year-old Briton will pilot the #93 Peugeot 9X8, sharing driving duties with Nick Cassidy and Paul Di Resta. Quinn succeeds Stoffel Vandoorne, who departed the team following the 6 Hours of Fuji.
Quinn, who was confirmed as a full-time driver for the 2027 season, expressed excitement for his inaugural race: “I’m really excited to get on track in Barcelona. It’ll be a proud moment in my career, so I want to do a good job but also enjoy it along the way,” he stated.
Peugeot Team Principal Emmanuel Esnault emphasized the strategic importance of Quinn’s participation. “Spain is one of Peugeot’s key markets, and we are pleased to take part in this historic event. The opportunity for Alex to gain valuable race experience ahead of our 2027 campaign is crucial,” Esnault remarked.
Peugeot has been actively testing the new 9X8, which will see significant updates for the next season. With the #94 team’s recent fightback to sixth place at Fuji, Esnault conveyed confidence in their readiness to perform at Barcelona.
Quinn’s double-header debut, including his second race at Monza next month, is expected to provide essential learning as the team prepares for the future.
