NASCAR Fines Carson Hocevar Following Kansas Speedway Incident
NASCAR has imposed a $50,000 fine on Carson Hocevar for behavioral infractions during the Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway. The penalty stems from Hocevar’s conduct after his Spire Motorsports Chevrolet became stranded due to flat tires following a spin on lap 260.
Hocevar’s vehicle spun down the backstretch and came to a halt in the banking of Turn 3. In an unsafe attempt to drive the car back to pit road, Hocevar revved the engine while safety personnel were on-site, but was unable to move the vehicle.
Hocevar ultimately finished 29th, having been in contention within the top 15 just prior to the incident. This event contributed to the first of two overtime attempts to conclude the race.
