Duncan Cameron and Matt Griffin have officially joined Barwell Motorsport for the upcoming 2026 British GT Championship, marking a significant shift in their racing careers. This pairing is the first confirmed driver lineup for Barwell’s ambitious three-car assault featuring the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2.
Cameron and Griffin bring substantial experience, boasting six victories together in their long-standing partnership dating back to 2009 in various iterations of Ferrari machinery. Their recent campaign in a Ferrari 296 GT3 saw Griffin aiming for his 15th career victory, but for 2026, they will don the colors of Lamborghini.
“We felt the time was right for a change,” Griffin stated. “Barwell Motorsport’s record speaks for itself—one of the most successful teams in British GT history. I’m excited to adapt to the Lamborghini’s dynamics, as both it and Ferrari are mid-engined vehicles. I’ve always preferred the driving feel of a naturally aspirated engine, and the V10 should deliver that.”
Both drivers are keen to leverage their pre-season test bookings and data-sharing initiatives within the three-car team structure to optimize their performance early in the season.
Cameron emphasized the personal motivation for this transition, citing his son Henry’s participation in Ginetta Junior events on the same racing weekends. “Racing together eventually in GTs is a dream, so aligning our schedules made perfect sense,” he said. “Barwell offers unparalleled support, and I look forward to driving a Lamborghini, a competitive package across various circuits.”
Barwell Motorsport team principal Mark Lemmer underscored the significance of this partnership, highlighting the duo’s proven synergy and experience. “Having established drivers like Duncan and Matt is a strong way to kick off this ambitious season,” Lemmer noted. “With the Huracán’s final competitive year ahead, expanding our efforts to three cars solidifies our commitment to both British GT and our new GT3 Heritage division.”
The 2026 season promises to be pivotal for Barwell Motorsport and its new driver pairing, aiming for continued excellence in one of the most competitive series in professional motorsports.
