GWR Australia Updates Driver Line-Up for 2026 Bathurst 12 Hour
GWR Australia has announced a significant alteration to its driver roster for the upcoming Bathurst 12 Hour, scheduled from February 13-15, 2026. Michael Sheargold will no longer compete in the #45 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO, removing the car from eligibility for the Pro-Am category.
In Sheargold’s absence, the entry now features Brett Hobson, Dylan O’Keeffe, and Garth Walden, shifting to the Silver Class as the sole team entry. Sheargold was originally slated to join Hobson and Walden, having participated in the race in 2022.
Both Walden and O’Keeffe are seasoned competitors at Bathurst, with aspirations for their third class victory. Walden previously dominated in the production car era, while O’Keeffe boasts a Class B win in 2017 and a Silver class victory in 2023.
“I enjoyed some success at the 12 Hour in the production car era, but my goal is to replicate that success in a GT3 car,” Walden stated. He emphasized the significance of strategy, particularly during early laps when incidents are likely.
“Our priority is to secure the Silver Class victory; a top 12 finish overall would be exceptional given the fierce competition,” he added, underscoring the challenging dynamics expected in the Pro Class.
The final driver entry list for the Bathurst 12 Hour will be revealed later this week.
