Heart of Racing Expands Asian Le Mans Series Commitment
The Heart of Racing team is set to enhance its competitive presence by entering two Aston Martins in the upcoming Asian Le Mans Series (ALMS). This strategic move follows the introduction of their Valkyrie in the Hypercar category and an increased investment in the World Endurance Championship’s LMGT3 class.
Team principal Ian James emphasized the intent behind this expansion during a recent conversation at the WEC weekend in Barcelona. “We aim to improve as a team, and competing in the Asian Le Mans is part of that evolution,” he stated. He noted that the lengthy winter break can lead to a performance dip at the start of the season, making additional racing experience valuable.
James highlighted the initiative’s dual purpose: providing driver Gray Newell with crucial race experience and refining team operations. “For us to remain competitive, continuous racing against diverse opponents accelerates our learning,” he added. This experience will be instrumental as the team seeks to maintain peak performance year-round.
The team is also eyeing potential participation in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), particularly as it transitions to new LMP2 regulations in 2028. “We’re monitoring how the ELMS evolves and weighing our options for the future,” James confirmed.
As the Heart of Racing broadens its horizons in the ACO series, they remain committed to operational excellence and competitive growth within sports car racing.
