Porsche Penske Motorsport Secures Third Consecutive Rolex 24 Win
Daytona Beach, FL – Porsche Penske Motorsport claimed its third straight victory at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, showcasing precision and strategy amid a chaotic race marred by low visibility and long caution periods. The 2026 edition of the iconic endurance race included an extended overnight caution that spanned over six hours, contrasting sharply with a thrilling finale that captivated fans.
The team’s #7 Porsche 963, driven by Felipe Nasr, Julien Andlauer, and Laurin Heinrich, edged out the competition with a narrow victory margin of 1.5 seconds. Nasr’s performance solidified his status as a key player in endurance racing, stating, “Three wins at Daytona, it’s going to be hard to beat that one.”
Heinrich underscored the significance of the win, particularly as a young driver representing Porsche. “Winning the Rolex 24 is incredible,” he remarked, acknowledging the journey from grassroots racing to factory-level competition.
Andlauer added, “This is what I wanted to do… being part of this team in endurance racing is my DNA.” Both drivers celebrated their first IMSA GTP victories in what was a historic moment for their careers.
Penske’s competition director, Travis Law, noted the impact of the lengthy caution, helping the team sharpen their race strategy. “It gave us an opportunity… to ensure our race cars were as sharp as they could be for the end of the race.”
Despite setbacks—including pit repairs for the #7 and damage to the #6—Porsche dominated GTP’s competition. Cadillac’s Earl Bamber acknowledged the race’s top contenders, stating, “After the first hour, there were only three cars in this most of the time, the #6, #7 and #31.”
Roger Penske, reflecting on the achievement, emphasized the hard work of the entire Porsche Penske Motorsport team, as they enter a new season marking both the team’s 60th anniversary and Porsche’s 75th. “Winning here in Daytona is a perfect way to celebrate our legacy,” he declared.
As the GTP competitors gear up for the next race at Sebring in March, the victory at Daytona has positioned Porsche Penske Motorsport as the team to beat.
