64th Rolex 24 at Daytona: Race Update
The #6 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 is currently leading the 64th Rolex 24 at Daytona with five hours remaining. Driver Matt Campbell reclaimed the lead following a series of green-flag pit stops, maintaining a three-second advantage over the sister #7 Penske Porsche, piloted by Felipe Nasr. Despite the recent restart, dense fog persists, impacting visibility on the track.
The #25 Team WRT BMW M Hybrid V8, driven by Kevin Magnussen, trails in third place over 20 seconds behind the leading Porsche. The top five are rounded out by the Wayne Taylor Cadillac entries, with brothers Jordan and Ricky Taylor in the #40 and #10 cars, respectively.
In the LMP2 class, routine pit stops have shuffled positions. Nolan Siegel of the #343 Inter Europol Competition ORECA 07-Gibson has moved into the lead, followed by António Félix da Costa in the #43 car and Sébastien Bourdais in the #8 Tower Motorsports entry in third.
In GTD Pro, Tommy Milner’s #4 Corvette Racing Z06 GT3.R leads the field after a significant setback for the #3 Corvette, in which driver Antonio García faced a right-rear suspension failure while running second. The #911 Manthey Porsche, driven by Ricardo Feller, is in second, with Jules Gounon in the #69 GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO in third, and Ben Barker’s #64 Ford Racing Mustang GT3 in fourth.
In the GTD category, Robby Foley’s #96 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 EVO holds a nearly ten-second lead over Antonio Fuoco’s #21 AF Corse USA Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo, with Philip Ellis in the #57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG completing the top three.
As the race progresses, teams continue to adapt to the evolving conditions and push for strategic gains in what remains a highly competitive event.
