Circuit of The Americas: Kim Clinches TC America Victory in Dramatic Race 2
In a thrilling Race 2 of the TC America series at Circuit of The Americas, Gyumin Kim showcased exceptional skill, securing victory in the No. 74 Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N1 TC EVO. This marked a significant highlight during the debut weekend of the Hyundai N Trophy Cup.
Kim made a strong start at the green flag, but quickly faced stiff competition from teammate Jeff Ricca in the No. 78 Hyundai. Ricca applied pressure, transforming the lead battle into an engaging four-car contest that included Michael Garcia in the No. 07 Skip Barber Acura Integra Type S and PJ Groenke in the No. 76 Hyundai.
Just five minutes in, Ricca executed a clean overtake to seize control. However, Kim’s relentless pace returned him to the front with 13 minutes remaining. Both drivers tied for the fastest lap until Kim ultimately claimed the distinction.
Garcia fended off Groenke to secure third place, while Groenke settled for fourth. Connor Attrell, also from Ricca Autosport, rounded out the top five.
Beyond the front-runners, the race experienced additional intensity as Jonathan Neudorf and Nick Roberts battled for seventh place, with Roberts maintaining his position in a last-lap showdown.
“It was definitely not easy,” Kim stated post-race. “Jeff (Ricca) was fast, and I just tried to defend and maintain my pace.”
The TC America series will continue with rounds five, six, and seven at Sebring International Raceway, scheduled for May 15-18.
