Radical Cup at Barber Motorsports Park: A Competitive Mix of Talent
This weekend, the Radical Cup makes its debut alongside the NTT IndyCar Series at Barber Motorsports Park for the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix, taking place from May 1 to 4. The event has attracted a diverse field, featuring competitors from Great Britain, China, Canada, and the United States.
Tom Drewer of Radical highlights the caliber of the participants, stating, “We have a solid mix of young racers and seasoned veterans.” Notably, reigning Platinum champion Jon Field returns, competing in the No. 37 entry alongside ONE Motorsports teammates Chip Romer and Wayne Williams. Field is part of a competitive Platinum class comprising nine entries, including drivers from JBR such as Scott Wagner and Louis Schriber, and others like Steve Jenks from Group-A Racing.
In the Pro 1500 class, leading driver Raiden Nicol from Primal Racing looks to defend his position after achieving three wins this season. Nicol is joined by Luke Kendall and Gold class competitors Chris Huhn and David Mason, the latter transitioning from local club competition to the national stage.
The Gold class sees its North American debut with Andy Lowe, a UK Radical Cup regular racing for JBR Motorsport. Alongside him, noteworthy competitors include points leader Jack Yang from Valour and JBR’s Richard Durocher.
In the Pro 1340 category, rookies Vaughn Glace and Dermot Ennis will challenge points leader Brady Clapham. Kenny Naill, a non-rookie, adds experience to the field.
With the potential for exciting racing at Barber, Drewer projects, “This could be the start of any competitor’s march toward the 2025 title.”
