McLaren Racing and RM Sotheby’s Set for Groundbreaking Auction at Abu Dhabi F1 Finale
Abu Dhabi, UAE – McLaren Racing has announced a historic auction in collaboration with RM Sotheby’s, taking place on December 5 during the Formula 1 season finale. This event celebrates McLaren’s unparalleled achievement of securing the motorsport’s Triple Crown, having won the Indianapolis 500 (1974), Monaco Grand Prix (1984), and 24 Hours of Le Mans (1995).
In a first for the industry, bidders will have the opportunity to acquire a 2026 McLaren Formula 1 Team car months before its official public unveiling. The car will be driven during the 2026 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season by either Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri, with delivery scheduled for 2028. Alongside this, buyers will receive a 2025 show car on lease until their acquisition arrives and will be granted a visit to the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking.
Additionally, the auction will feature McLaren’s inaugural LMDh hypercar from its debut FIA World Endurance Championship season, along with an Arrow McLaren Indy car that Pato O’Ward will contend with in the 2026 Indianapolis 500.
"Owning a car that has competed on track before its official launch is an extraordinary opportunity," said McLaren CEO Zak Brown. "The Triple Crown is a crucial part of our heritage, and we are determined to reclaim it with our 2027 World Endurance Championship entry. These exceptional vehicles will also provide extraordinary VIP access to the team and track events."
This auction marks a significant chapter in McLaren Racing’s narrative, reinforcing its commitment to both heritage and future innovation in motorsports.
