Williams Unveils Fan-Designed Gulf Livery for São Paulo Grand Prix
Williams Racing will debut a unique fan-designed Gulf livery on the FW47 during this weekend’s São Paulo Grand Prix. This initiative reflects the team’s dedicated partnership with Gulf Oil, which began in 2023, showcasing the celebrated light blue and orange color scheme that has become synonymous with motorsports.
The recent livery design incorporates 493 words submitted by fans via a poll that generated 140,000 votes, with “Legacy,” “Passion,” and “Teamwork” emerging as standout themes. Team Principal James Vowles emphasized the importance of this fan engagement, stating, “As an iconic Formula 1 team… it will be a privilege to race every lap in Brazil with the passion and emotion of our fans woven into this beautiful design.”
Ed Scott, Williams’ Head of Creative Design, highlighted the livery’s innovative blend of heritage and modernity. He remarked, “The iconic Gulf orange flows effortlessly… framed by the unmistakable pale blue… creating a confident, forward-looking expression of Gulf’s enduring legacy.”
In addition to the special livery, Williams announced plans to rebrand as Atlassian Williams F1 Team in 2026, featuring a retro-inspired logo that pays homage to founder Sir Frank Williams. Vowles noted, “This evolved team identity reflects who we are… and reintroduces our title-winning legacy to a growing F1 audience.”
Williams’ strategic moves underscore the team’s commitment to harnessing both its storied past and its future ambitions as it aims to reclaim its championship-winning status.
