Milwaukee Mile Practice Results: Newgarden Leads the Pack Ahead of Qualifying
In a brisk one-hour practice session ahead of the Snap-on 250 at the Milwaukee Mile, Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden emerged as the fastest driver, clocking a lap at 161.066 mph. This performance set the tone for a highly competitive qualifying round scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
Newgarden’s speed put him ahead of reigning IndyCar champion Alex Palou, who recorded a second-best lap of 160.544 mph in his No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda. Conor Daly followed closely in third, with a time of 160.436 mph in his No. 76 Chevy. Rinus VeeKay and Marcus Ericsson rounded out the top five, clocking 160.260 mph and 160.086 mph, respectively. Graham Rahal secured sixth with a lap time of 160.082 mph.
Challenges during the session included an extended caution due to multiple cut tires and the removal of Louis Foster’s No. 45 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda after an engine failure. Foster managed just three laps before the issue arose, prompting the team to initiate an engine change to ensure his participation in the subsequent qualifying session.
Notably, engine penalties were issued to Louis Foster, Scott Dixon, and other entries for the Milwaukee event.
Qualifying is set to commence at 2:05 PM ET, positioning teams for the crucial race ahead.
