Anaheim 2 Supercross Update: Ryder Malinoski’s Collision Incident
In a dramatic start to the Anaheim 2 Supercross SMX Next – SX main event, Ryder Malinoski was involved in a significant collision that resulted in a red flag early in the race. The incident occurred in the second rhythm section when Malinoski, committed to a triple jump, collided with Max Shane, who inadvertently veered into his lane.
Both riders immediately received medical attention from the Alpinestars medical team, leading to a delay before the race resumed with a full restart. Malinoski has since reported sustaining a dislocated hip and a concussion, alongside a bruised forehead.
In a video statement, Malinoski provided context about the incident: “I went down pretty hard… I was in fourth or fifth and one of the riders went kind of into my lane, cross rutted. I clipped his head and shot over the bars… I’m all right and couldn’t be more grateful to be okay. It was a really gnarly one, but nothing’s too serious… I’ll get back on the bike as soon as I can.”
Max Shane has yet to provide an update on his condition following the incident. Further details regarding the implications for both riders and their upcoming schedules will be monitored as the season progresses.
