NASCAR has announced multiple suspensions following incidents from the tripleheader weekend at Martinsville Speedway, notably impacting Xfinity Series driver Sam Mayer. Mayer has been suspended for the final race of the Xfinity season at Phoenix Raceway after intentionally wrecking Jeb Burton in Turn 1 post-race. This action followed a controversial exchange between the two drivers during the Martinsville event, prompting Mayer’s frustration as he sought to advance in the postseason.
The Haas Factory Team confirmed they will not contest Mayer’s suspension, with Ryan Sieg stepping in as the driver of the No. 41 car for the upcoming race.
Additionally, the No. 51 team from Rick Ware Racing has received sanctions related to a serious safety breach after a right rear wheel detached from Cody Ware’s car during the race on lap 242. In response to this incident, De’Quan Hampton (jackman) and Marquill Osborne (rear tire changer) have both been suspended for the Cup Series finale at Phoenix Raceway, as well as the next event scheduled for February, the Clash at Bowman Gray.
