Martinsville Elimination Race: Logano and Blaney Brace for Battle
As the NASCAR Playoffs intensify, Team Penske’s Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney anticipate a fierce contest during Sunday’s elimination race at Martinsville Speedway. With stakes high, Logano, the reigning series champion, emphasized the competitive atmosphere, stating, “You get to this round of the playoffs and everybody is good. It’s a heavyweight fight right to the end.”
Logano currently sits sixth on the playoff grid, facing a 38-point deficit, while Blaney, the 2023 series champion, is just behind in seventh, with a 47-point gap. Both drivers acknowledge the challenge ahead, as they aim to secure a spot in the Championship 4.
Penske’s recent success at Martinsville, having won the last two elimination races, bolsters their confidence. “It’s been a good track for us,” Logano added. “Everybody’s got to win, and everyone has done it here.”
Blaney recalled last year’s thrilling finish, involving him, Chase Elliott, and Kyle Larson, and hopes for similar excitement: “There’s going to be contact, but you hope it doesn’t turn into a cluster. We’ve been doing it the right way.”
The race is particularly tense with four drivers needing victories, creating a complex dynamic as those in contention jockey for position. With Logano and Blaney both striving to avoid elimination and extend Team Penske’s streak of three consecutive Cup Series championships, all eyes will undoubtedly be on Martinsville this weekend.
