Charlotte Roval Disqualification and Race Outcomes: Herbst Penalty and Van Gisbergen’s Historic Win
Riley Herbst and the No. 35 team from 23XI Racing were disqualified from the Bank of America Roval 400 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway following a failure during post-race inspection. NASCAR selected Herbst’s car for scrutiny, which did not meet the required weight specifications. This ruling elevated Herbst’s official finish from 30th to 37th place, with the team receiving a single point for the event.
The post-race inspection for all other competitors concluded without incident, allowing NASCAR to finalize results for the race and confirm which drivers advanced to the Round of 8 in the playoffs.
Shane van Gisbergen emerged as the race winner, securing his fifth victory of the season. This achievement places him alongside Jeff Gordon as the only driver to win five consecutive road course races in the Cup Series. Notably, van Gisbergen is the first driver to record his first six wins exclusively on road courses.
The Round of 8 competitors now include reigning champion Joey Logano, who will defend his title at the upcoming Las Vegas Motor Speedway event. Other notable drivers advancing include past champions Ryan Blaney, Kyle Larson, and Chase Elliott, alongside playoff contenders Denny Hamlin, William Byron, Christopher Bell, and Chase Briscoe, all vying for their inaugural titles.
